What is a Transaction?
Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) are a condition that occurs when the urinary tract of children becomes inflamed. This infection can affect any part of the urinary tract, from the kidneys to the bladder, and can lead to more serious health problems if left untreated.
How is it done?
In our Urinary Tract Infections Follow-Up Unit in Cigli, Izmir, a urine sample is first taken when symptoms of infection are observed in children. This sample is analyzed by laboratory tests to identify the bacteria causing the infection. If necessary, imaging methods such as ultrasonography are used to check whether the infection has spread to the kidneys. Treatment is planned according to the severity of the infection and the child’s general health status.
What are the Symptoms?
- Frequent and urgent need to urinate
- Burning or pain when urinating
- Abdominal pain or discomfort in the lumbar region
- Fever, weakness and general fatigue
- Bad odor or blood in urine
What are the Treatment Methods?
- Antibiotic Treatment: Appropriate antibiotics are prescribed to eliminate the bacteria causing the infection.
- Drink plenty of water: Drinking plenty of water is recommended to cleanse the urinary tract and heal the infection faster.
- Urine Tests During treatment, regular tests are performed to confirm that the infection is under control and fully recovered.
- Imaging Tests: If necessary, ultrasonography is performed to see if the infection has spread to higher levels, such as the kidney.
Early diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract infections in children is of great importance in preventing long-term health problems.
