What is a Transaction?
Laparotomy is an open surgical procedure in which a large incision is made in the abdomen to examine organs and perform surgical interventions. This method is preferred when laparoscopic surgeries with smaller incisions are not sufficient or when large structures need to be worked on.
How is it done?
A large incision is made at a suitable point on the abdominal wall and the organs involved are accessed through this incision. The procedures performed by laparotomy method in our hospital in Çiğli, Izmir are as follows:
- Hysterectomy Removal of the uterus.
- Myomectomy Removal of large or multiple fibroids.
- Sacrocolpopexy/Sacrohysteropexy: Procedures for the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse.
- Open Lateral Suspension: Supporting and holding the pelvic organs in place.
- Endometrioma Surgeries: Treatment of advanced cases of endometriosis.
What are the Treatment Methods?
- Open Surgery (Laparotomy): It is a traditional method and provides a wider field of view.
- Laparoscopic Surgery: It is a method performed with smaller incisions and preferred in suitable patients.
- Robotic Surgery: Surgical interventions supported by robotic systems in cases requiring high precision.
These methods are selected and applied according to the patient’s condition and the requirements of the surgical procedure.
